Text description provided by the architects. The site of the school remains a green heritage of the City of Epinay‐sur‐Seine, in the suburbs of Paris. The new equipment, complementing two existing schools, promotes the district as coherent overall project, where the pedestrian pathes, the cultural, sports and educational buildings take place in an open space, where the plant is ubiquitous in the city of tomorrow.
It creates the new image of the school complex face to the city and proposes an environmental architecture. That is why we have treated it as a wooden pavilion surrounded by trees.
The project provides a simple volume, easily identifiable, which accompanies the new way and create a frontal face to the stadium. This building, surrounded by trees has a façade punctuated by vertical wooden structure at R +1.
The building consists of three volumes: ‐ The first one (R+1), is a prism, largely glazed, at the heart of a wooden park, which provides new image of the school in the city. ‐ The second in (one floor), is treated with wood with the same visual identity, which ensures a smooth transition to school Lacepede, (one floor itself). ‐ The third volume is an extension of the kindergarten Lacepede, which provides space for the canteen room. The corridor of the equipment, voluntarily located south side, filters between the school and the street and put away the places dedicated to the youngest children.
The built masses are based on two geometries: part of the building shows the orthogonality of the existing school , while the other is aligned along the street of le Chemin des Prés, to develop a protected and planted playground.
This new school promotes a quality site, and focuses on the conservation of trees and its reinforcement.
